December Client of the Month: Ollie’s Group

Ollies Group LogoOllie’s Group, December’s Client of the Month, consists of three recently-opened storefronts on Broadway in Kingston: Ollie’s Slice Shop (580 Broadway), Eliza (582 Broadway), and Fletcher & Lou (582 Broadway, Suite 2). Owned and operated by Sophie Peltzer-Rollo and her husband Innis Lawrence, plus their partners Ilan Bachrach, Chris Bradley, and Julien Shapiro, the Group has put a tremendous amount of love and hard work into transforming the space previously known as Tony’s Pizzeria.

The team purchased the property in March 2022 and has spent the past year and a half renovating the space, with all three businesses opening recently. Ollie’s Slice Shop was first to debut this past August, where patrons can grab pizza by the slice or whole pie and enjoy it in the small shop space or take it to go. The opening of Fletcher & Lu on September 1 was next up for Ollie’s Group. The specialty grocery store offers a variety of locally sourced provisions including both prepared and made to order sandwiches, soups, dinner entrees, meats, fish, baked goods, cheese, pasta, pantry staples, and more. You can find their current menu (which changes weekly!) and store hours over at www.fletcherandlu.com

And opening just last month was Eliza Bistro, a “neighborhood bistro inspired by Europe, rooted in the Hudson Valley.” Kingston natives will appreciate the Group’s efforts to restore what they could of the iconic “Tony’s Pizzeria” space, reusing existing elements where possible, while making it cozy and inviting. (In fact, they even restored and repurposed the original neon Tony’s Pizzeria sign to spell out Eliza (they had all the letters except for the L, which was easily made by altering the T) as well as the original bar top which is over 100 years old!) A sample menu and restaurant hours can be found at www.elizakingston.com.

Sophie, Innis, and Ilan are also the original partners of Ollie’s in High Falls and they also purchased Kingston Wine Co. in Kingston in June 2022. In fact, Innis grew up in High Falls so he and Sophie have always spent time in and had love for Kingston. According to Sophie, when they were looking to expand from their original location in High Falls, they found the building at 582 Broadway and it “shaped [their] vision for multiple concepts with a shared kitchen and whole animal butcher program that could provide pizza by the slice, housemade charcuterie, and a full service restaurant with everything made in-house.” Sophie went on to add, “The sustainability and opportunity for ultimate quality control created by this model made us fall in love with the space and the prospects it allowed for.”

Ollie’s Group has been insured by Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers since this past August. When asked why they chose R&R as their insurance agency, Sophie responded by stating:

“It’s important to us to work with other local businesses whenever possible in all of our dealings, and the service, expertise, and attention to detail we have experienced with Ryan & Ryan can’t be beat!”

Sophie went on to add:

“Kingston is such a special vibrant community with so many incredible small businesses that support each other—we’re really thankful to be a part of it!”
