Le Canard Enchaine, June’s Client of the Month, is an upscale French restaurant located at 276 Fair Street in Kingston, New York. Owned and operated since 1996 by chef Jean-Jacques Carquillat and his partner Jennifer, it’s now been 26 years of sharing good food and good times with their customers who are more like family and friends.
Jean-Jacques was only 15 years old when he left his hometown for an apprenticeship in Paris as an assistant to the pastry chef at the esteemed Gaston Le Notre. He went on to travel to Geneva, London, Portugal, and New York City where he continued honing his baking and cooking skills. From New York City, Jean-Jacques landed in the Hudson Valley where he and Jennifer opened up Le Canard Enchaine.
The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, instantly transporting you from Kingston to France. Currently their most popular dishes include a braised lamb shank in port raisin sauce over mashed potatoes, their confit of duck over apple compote, and snails, either in mushroom, cognac cream sauce, or with garlic butter and Pernod. And every meal starts with a delicious French baguette that is a special recipe made just for Le Canard by local bakery Bread Alone. And ending your meal with dessert is a must—they’re all made in house!
Le Canard has been insured by Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers since 2009. When asked why they chose R&R as their insurance agency, Jennifer responded by stating:

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 12pm-9:30pm, and Friday and Saturday from 12pm-10pm (closed Sunday and Wednesday).
