Garvan’s, May’s Client of the Month, is a relaxed gastropub serving New American fare, located at 215 Huguenot Street in New Paltz, New York. Owned and operated since 2016 by Garvan and Leonie McCloskey, the restaurant is housed in a former private home built in 1759 on what is considered the oldest street in America.
Garvan and Leonie opened Garvan’s in 2016 with a vision for warm Irish hospitality with a pub atmosphere like back home in Letterkenny and Donegal, Ireland (where they are both from, respectfully). The cuisine is reminiscent of traditional Irish with a mix of eclectic American dishes.
Garvan’s prides themselves on serving fresh, local food with menu options for everyone. Favorites among diners include classics such as shepherd’s pie, lamb stew, potato leek soup, braised short ribs, scallops, crab cakes, Irish soda bread, and Leonie’s famous Guinness infused rich chocolate cake. The restaurant, which features beautifully decorated dining rooms and exquisite architecture, is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm-9pm, and closed on Mondays. In addition to indoor dining, you can also enjoy your meal on their screened in patio or cozy porch overlooking the locust grove. And when weather permits, dining is also available in the garden and the grove. Not only does the restaurant take reservations, but they are highly encouraged. In addition to being a great lunch or dinner spot to enjoy with family, friends, or for a date night, Garvan’s also offers space and services for wedding receptions (should you happen to be looking for venues!).
Garvan’s has been insured by Ryan & Ryan Insurance Brokers since opening in 2016. When asked why they chose R&R as their insurance agency, Garvan responded by stating:

Garvan went on to add,
