Hurd’s Family Farm, September’s Client of the Month, is a family-owned farm located in Modena, New York. Owned and operated by Phil and Susan Hurd, along with their son Charles and daughter Megan, the farm has been continuously operated by the Hurd family for more than 25 years.
What started as an apple farm transformed in the mid-1990s when the family decided to open the historic Dutch Barn on the property for weekend festivals. It was a hit, and to this day the farm now offers hayrides, corn mazes, gem mining, a giant slide, rubber duck races, a cow train ride, and much more!
In addition to the great fall activities for families, Hurds Family Farm also offers apple picking, which this year started on August 28th, and pumpkin picking, starting in late September. And a trip to Hurds Family Farm wouldn’t be complete without the many delicious food options—most notably, their apple cider donuts! But you’ll also find a cafe with an assortment of items that uses local ingredients and family recipes, including salads, chilis, sweets and treats, and beverages. Hurds Family Farm is currently open Friday through Monday for pick your own and activities, and Wednesday and Thursday for large group site rentals (reservations required). The farm also hosts various events throughout the year, including an Apple Blossom Festival in the spring, a Mommy & Me Summer camp in the summer, and more.
